Mary K. Shanahan's Child of the Chain™ at Emmaus! September 8 at 8:00 p.m.

Click here to read Mary's thoughts about His Holiness John Paul II in EWTN's tribute to the late Pope, along with comments from President George W. Bush, Rev. Billy Graham, Chief Rabbi Dr Jonathan Sacks, Lech Walesa, Prime Minister Tony Blair, The Dalia Lama, Francis Cardinal George, Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, General Kofi Annan and many other political and religious world leaders.

Mary K. Shanahan and Rudy Davenport will offer their original composition Have Mercy on Me in ministry for the first time on October 12th at Austin's Kol Halev during Kol Nidre of Yom Kippur, as a result of an invitation spawned by the Austin Interfaith Art and Music Festival.

Have Mercy on Me is a derivative hymn from Davenport's fourth movement of The Buck Creek Suite, a stunning composition that Shanahan wrote lyrics to for her upcoming CD on Sacramental life entitled The Promise.  It is about Reconciliation, one of the seven Sacraments practiced as a way of life in Roman Catholicism.

When asked about singing at the Synagogue Mary shared "I am so honored and humbled at the knowledge this hymn touched a common chord in the heart of Cantor Robbi Sherwin during our performance Saturday night. I relish this opportunity to learn more about the religion and culture that my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was born into ... and explore the powerful commonality that we all share through the grace of Almighty God and Father when we cry out to Him for forgiveness and mercy for our weaknesses and transgressions."

Mary will perform with Grammy Award and five time Dove Award winning artist Cynthia Clawson, internationally acclaimed Jewish Singer-songwriter Robbi Sherwin and 1001 Nights Orchestra at the Austin Interfaith Art and Music Festival on Saturday, October 8th at 8:00 pm, Central Presbyterian Church, Downtown Austin! Mary will be joined by Child of the Chain™ cast  members Rudy Davenport, Omar Lopez, Andrew Cannata and a vocal quartet as they premiere newly written choir parts for several of the hymns from The Gabriel Mass, Shanahan and Davenport's evolving composition.  Click into Contact and Dates for ticket information.

Mary and collaborator Rudy Davenport will premiere their Ave Maria in E minor at the Austin Interfaith Art and Music Festival!

Watch Mary on Faith Dialogue with Rev. Richard Thompson and Tom Escandell, the Executive Director of the Austin Interfaith Art and Music Festival on Sunday, October 1st at 8:00 am, on Austin's cable channel 54.

Rain  Great song, great voice, great message.

These songs are beautiful not only in vocals and music, but in words, as well, from the love song of the Holy Eucharist in I Know Jesus,  in which Shanahan talks about Jesus' true presence, to the Last Supper celebration of Holy Thursday night in the song The Greatest Truth.  Songs like Kyrie Eleison, Sanctus and Lamb of God have new life breathed into them by Shanahan.
December 2003 Artist Reviews

I'm ecstatic over this project and flattered that Mary K Shanahan invited me to co-produce the recording. I agreed to do so after listening to the sincerity of her demos. Her conviction to use her music to share her love of Christ and her skilled songwriting closed the deal. I'm certain there is such a thing as divine inspiration

Artist/Producer John Arthur Martinez

The songs on Child of the Chain are so deep, well written, and Mary's voice is beautiful.  It brought tears to my eyes

I can't tell you how many times I've listened to Child of the Chainâ„¢ since I bought it. Many thanks for sharing Mary's inspiring words and beautiful voice with the world.  I hope this is just one of many CD's she'll record.
